Afire (2023)

Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the 2023 Berlin International Film Festival, this German drama follows self-absorbed writer Leon and his relaxed photographer friend Felix as they encounter the enigmatic Nadja during a tranquil Baltic Sea retreat. As uncontrolled forest fires engulf their surroundings, their emotional bonds are tested. With exceptional performances by Thomas Schubert, Paula Beer, and Langston Uibel under Christian Petzold's masterful direction, this film offers an emotionally charged narrative about desire, and vulnerability.
