In Pursuit of Light (2020)

In India around 2 million cases of cataract are reported every year. This leads to 80.7% of severe visual impairment and 63% blindness. Of these cases, 93% of blindness and 96.2% is completely avoidable. But due to illiteracy, lack of awareness, and proper medical facilities these figures have never really changed. Many government initiatives have not managed to overcome this crisis. Sakib Gore is an ordinary man pursuing an extraordinary mission. For the past 28 years he has been working in the interiors of Maharashtra trying to fight against the menace of cataract and its outcome. This film is his journey of this extraordinary man and his extraordinary journey, documenting trials and tribulations that he keeps meeting in his effort. This is a story of triumph against all odds, a service without any self centered objective and an inspiring tale of an inspiring man.
