Born into a turbulent home, Tate has never known the comfort of a sturdy nuclear family. She was shaped by an abusive and alcoholic father, and a stern and mildly narcissistic mother. She learned to seem tough and abrasive, like nothing bothered her, which led her to feel alone and unable to confront how she truly feels. Her only solace was her brother, Teddy, who lived the same tumultuous life as her. He understood her. He helped her cope. After her brother's death, Tate's mother divorced her father and left Tate to fend for herself. At seventeen, Tate moved out, and didn't look back - until now. Saddled with the fact that he is still her father, Tate returns to watch him start a happy new life, with a happy new wife. She resents him, and by default, her. And although she wishes that she could just sit in the corner and watch the minutes tick by, her new step-mother, and her deep rooted desire for revenge, push her to action.
