"I want to hike the Appalachian Trail." "I want to climb Mount Whitney." "I want to..." We all have friends who talk about their dreams. Years come and go, and they're still talking. The Friendship is the tale of a man who did more than talk. Bob Rollins had built the original Friendship with his father, Ralph in the 1930's. They developed an amazing bond while working side by side on the sailboat. By the 1950's Bob had a new dream - to build a new Friendship and race the yacht in the Transpac Race - a 2,557-mile sailboat race from Los Angeles to Honolulu. Bob wanted his family to share an experience like his father had gifted him. Friendship started as a family project. Over time friends and neighbors began to share in the dream. Many helped the ship building. Some were vital in moving the sailboat from the backyard to the harbor. Seven crossed the Pacific in the Friendship. Bob Rollins' made his dream into a reality and in the process created a lifetime of memories for many others.
