Ancestrais is an experimental documentary film that aims to rescue the memory of Black families, using as reference a black queer couple and their maternal and paternal ancestries. Reconstructing their family trees, the film addresses themes such as religiosity, affection, and ancestry. The film highlights the protagonism of seven Black women who discuss issues that permeate all Black families in the country, such as their struggles, achievements, and losses. Through photographic records, documents, and artistic performances, these women delve into topics such as genocide, incarceration, religious intolerance, and other issues that affect Black Brazilian families.
