Rae (Lauren Marshall), a naive 13-year-old, lands in the ghost town of Coal Gulch with her Ma (Aubrey Trujillo), who is on the run from her violent boyfriend, Danny (Mikie Beatty). Rae is greeted by spirits that only she can sense and sinks into a supernatural world. Scary Larry (Dyron C. Thompson), a hulking misfit suspected of murdering children, has his eye on Rae. So do the ghost sisters Helen and Harriet who haunt her house, as well as a shamanistic elder and her grandson. Rae explores the town with her new friend, Berna (Sofia Meneses Ortega), 16. They exhume a dark mystery involving an abandoned young mother and baby who are being stalked by the mythical spirit La Llorona, as well as by a dangerous and powerful man. Rae alone has the compassion to try to rescue them from impending tragedy. But when Danny, tracks Rae and Ma down, it is Rae that needs rescuing. Enlisted by her courageousness and pure heart, spirits and outcasts rally to her aid. This independent ghost film explores the themes of domestic violence and defilement of the Earth Spirit Gaia, who finds embodiment through the myth of La Llorona.
