After the collapse of the USSR, not only bandits are fighting for the division of the sphere of influence, but also various schools of martial arts. One of the criminalized schools of jiu-jitsu ("Bushido") seeks to monopolize the teaching of martial arts in the city. Those who resist are killed. She is opposed by the wu-shu school, led by a real monk from the Shaolin monastery. He professes a philosophy of non-violence and, therefore, refuses to join the criminal school. His best student Jamal, in secret from the teacher, gave the villains a decent answer, but after that he was forced to leave for China, to the monastery, where the teacher decided to hide him. Jamal lives there for two years, learning martial arts from the abbot of the monastery. The villains shot the teacher, but the student returned.
