Tom Sawyer's Black Friday (2022)

Becky Thatcher is excited by the prospect of a trip to St. Louis until her friend, Susy Harper, warns her about the perils of Friday the 13th. Becky laughs off the old superstitions until she realizes her trip means she'll have to cancel a long-awaited date with Tom Sawyer. Tom is disappointed, but resolves to spend the evening having a rowdy night with Huck Finn. Becky asks Tom to promise her that he won't fight, get into any mischief, smoke his pipe or go anywhere near Amy Lawrence, his flirtatious former girlfriend; Tom assures her he won't, then quickly breaks each promise, largely thanks to Huck's encouragement. During a clandestine meeting, Amy kisses Tom on the cheek, leaving a "lip rouge" stain. Tom and Huck decide to have some fun by dressing up as ghosts to spook Old Mother Hopkins when she makes her Friday night visit to the graveyard. Instead, they wind up ambushing Becky, who was on her way to tell Tom the trip had been postponed and she could still keep their date. Becky accidentally smacks Tom across the face and thinks she has cut him when she sees traces of red on her handkerchief. Later, Susy examines the handkerchief and tells Becky the stain is not blood, but lip rouge; both of them know Amy Lawrence is the only young woman in town who dares to wear it. Becky's cousin, Jeff, overhears the conversation and warns Tom that Becky knows about his rendezvous with Amy and is coming back to give him a beating. Tom and Huck make plans to escape Becky's wrath by sailing to their old hideout on Jackson's Island. They escape just before Becky enters the graveyard and sees something macabre going on. Becky screams as the perpetrator comes after her.
