This documentary accompanies us on the paths that lead Aristide Maillol (1861-1944) from Banyuls, his birthplace, to Paris, his adopted city, from his beginnings as a painter to his renown as a sculptor of genius, passing through his experimentation with tapestry and the decorative arts. Maillol's work is based on a constant requirement, a love of nature, a high idea of art, his admirations and his friendships. Apolitical, Maillol and his singing accent will cross three wars. The last two will leave their mark, his contemporaries not forgiving him the special relationship he had built over the years with Germany. This war made him say: "Men are really abominable beings. That will never change. I prefer my cat." And to his cat, he certainly preferred women. He spent his life sculpting them and died before completing his testamentary work, Harmony.
