Ka Whawhai Tonu (2024)

In the midst of the 1864 siege of Ōrākau, a young half-Māori soldier, torn by his own violent past, is captured by Māori forces. His fate shifts when he meets Kōpū, a girl destined to serve as a medium for a war god. As colonial forces close in, they forge an unexpected bond. Together, they flee with a group of children, confronting their inner demons and the brutal realities of war, with both sides on relentless pursuit.
