Jaja (The Carwash) (2021)

JAJA is a representation of how people objectify women. sometimes even the women also forget their worth. The problem being within the community which is rigid to change. When a woman speaks up, the community will point fingers at her. Abuse her, calling her all sought of names that will make her appear less of a woman. And yet when a woman decides to keep quiet to avoid criticism, the first assumption is that she is either dumb, stupid or weak. The worst part of it all is when the woman comes from a poor background, she lacks ambition due what people ignore most, fear. She is afraid of believing in herself, she is afraid of achieving more because she may 'lack a spouse" as the local community dictates, she is afraid that once she succeeds people will not see the effort rather than be blamed for seduction. When in reality most men are not only taking advantage of girls but also working women.The film Jaja brings all these aspects into life. It pushes the motion of women emancipation. We see the protagonist who has been abducted by sex traffickers, her journey throughout the film with the traffickers, and how the authority reacts towards it.We need to free the community from these ideologies that prevent it from progress and make women understand that they dominate their own future, they are phenomenal.
