Bavathi (2019)

Ibu, a physical instructor from Male', visits a rural island to conduct a three-month-long physical education and exercise program for the islanders. During his stay, he meets Shehenaz, a beautiful young girl who, to his surprise, lives in the same house he is staying in. But he is shocked by the islanders' mentality towards her, who thinks she is prideful and mentally unfit. Nevertheless, he finds companionship in her, which blossoms into an unconventional relationship. After much convincing, Ibu marries Shehenaz, and they move to Male', escaping her inconvenient island life and restarting a life filled with hope in the capital city. However, their new life is disrupted by strange events that start happening almost immediately after moving back to Male'. Mysterious occurrences throw everything into question, and Ibu must find the cause of these events. Ibu must get to the bottom of things as their marriage depends on it, and maybe even their lives. What they unveil is far more sinister than anyone would have imagined.
