In August, 1969, Woodstock attracted nearly half a million people to a dairy farm in upstate New York. Wade Lawrence, director and senior curator of the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts Museum, described how the three-day rock concert ended up in Bethel, 60 miles from the town of Woodstock, and how it became a historic site.
