Hightail

In the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Josie makes a dash for the exit of her building, when she abruptly knocks on a door and barges inside as it opens. Mike protests her intrusion until a man's voice is heard calling for Josie from the hallway. The reality of covid suddenly catches up to her as she stands in this strange person's home. She tries to regain her composure as the two neighbors engage in small talk. Despite the oddness of this forced encounter, Mike offers her to stay for dinner. They break bread and start getting to know one another. While Josie makes herself useful by washing the dishes, Mike fetches her a pair of socks upon noticing her bare feet. She jumps when he silently offers them to her, and she brushes off her reaction with a joke. Later in the evening they bring up each other's relationships, and Josie opens up about her homesickness and how isolating it's been during this time. Mike probes her on and eventually catches onto how possessive her boyfriend is, identifying his abusive nature. She defends him but Mike states that they should call the police, and Josie tells him off for overstepping. They argue and she storms out. With nowhere safe to turn to in this time of social distancing, it remains unclear how Josie's vulnerable position will evolve.
