GRIMM RE-EDIT is the film it should have been all along. It is the new adaptation of Alex van Warmerdam's film GRIMM (2003), his fifth and only film from which the Dutch director felt he could have got more out of. Sixteen years later, GRIMM RE-EDIT is the result of a new editing with new image, sound and music. GRIMM RE-EDIT is a modern fairy tale that begins as a variation on Hansel and Gretel and gradually changes into a road movie, thriller and western. The film begins in a wintry Dutch landscape where a penniless man leaves his son and daughter, Jacob (Jacob Derwig) and Marie (Halina Reijn), in the woods. A note from their mother summons them to go to an uncle in Spain. Once in Spain, Marie falls in love with a rich surgeon who lives with his taciturn sister. There is no place for Jacob anymore.
