#EndOverdoseHI: Harm Reduction in the Pacific (2021)

Meet the leaders of Hawaii who work tirelessly to save lives and educate the public on overdose prevention and harm reduction and harm reduction therapies. Beginning in 1989, the CHOW Project (now known as Hawaii Health and Harm Reduction Center) created the first state-wide syringe program in the United States. The leaders of this organization worked tirelessly to ensure that the local native Hawaiian populations have access to life saving therapies and supplies. This led the the CHOW Project to expand their services. In the 1990s, they began working to make access to Naloxone available to all. This finally came to fruition in 2016 with Hawaii State legislation to support this initiative.
