One of the less accessible areas of Crete, close to the southern coast of the island: there, squeezed between the mountains and the Libyan Sea, lives an ancient people, who consider themselves the direct heir of the Dorians: the Sfakians. Today, thanks also to a recently built road, the town of Sfakia is more easily reached by tourism. However, the Sfakians do not give up on traditional activities, such as sheep farming and crafts, nor do they neglect the traditions linked to music and dance, still very much felt, protagonists of many festivity.
