In the evening of April 15, 2019 news agencies' breaking news followed in rapid succession. The world was shocked. The cathedral of Notre-Dame, the symbol of Paris and France and a world cultural heritage site was in flames. On the banks of the Seine, thousands watched shocked as the roof in flames collapsed and fell into the nave. Saviours and firefighters did superhuman deeds in order to keep the fire from spreading to further parts of the building or neighboring houses. The end result on the next morning was sobering. The time-honored cathedral was in serious danger of collapsing, the building was far more badly damaged than it appeared. A wave of solidarity spread around the world: the unique Parisian cathedral had to be saved. The movie crew has made spectacular pictures of the inner part of the badly damaged church and accompanies people who set themselves the task of keeping Notre-Dame from destruction. Architects, archaeologists, engineers and craftsmen schooled in old building techniques tell the story of the most probably greatest challenge of their lives: They are the saviors of Notre-Dame.
