Annabel Lee (1971)

A dramatic rendering of Edgar Allan Poe's 'Annabel Lee' with the poem's heroine personified by a young girl on the beach. The musical score enhances the mood of the author's sense of loss and the timelessness of love. Reading is stressed by repetition of the visual dramatization without narration so that the audience can read aloud the poem which is superimposed on the screen. Through highly imaginative photography and the excellent music of Les Baxter, brings the poem closer to the contemporary idiom.
