Countermove

When the chess-obsessed, 17-year-old Mattie Martin discovers that his mother can no longer pay for her cancer treatments, he becomes determined to save his mom's life. However, after a run-in with the local Mafia, Mattie loses his job at a dingy diner. With no options left, Mattie decides to put his brains to the test by pulling off the heist of the century: stealing the cash register from his former workplace. Despite his intelligence, however, Mattie struggles to make his plan, as his intellect and emotional immaturity clash. In the end, Mattie must decide if he is willing to do whatever it takes to save his mother, no matter the cost.
