Parallel (2022)

A young mixed-race (British Chinese) woman goes for dim sum with her family. Unable to speak the same language as much of her family, she both participates in, and observes, the action. Paying attention to non-verbal communication and the choreography of the everyday rituals, she contemplates ideas of belonging and how she does, or does not, feel bonded to her family and heritage.
