Bucking Tradition explores the cruelty behind one of America's most iconic sporting competitions - the rodeo. With its multiple incarnations, each with unique but equal levels of animal cruelty, this deceptive "sport" is consistently associated with America's romanticism of western culture. And yet, in the same way that our modern day perceptions of the "great American west" are often rooted in historically revised nostalgia, so it goes with the rodeo, which is also far more than it seems-it is perhaps our nation's last form of systematic, legal, brutal animal cruelty masquerading as sport. Do some traditions deserve to die? Maybe they do.
