In this silent, sepia neo noir, shot entirely on a hand-held camera in 2006, a man discovers that someone has been stalking his encounters with a series of thirteen women after he lost his family in a brutal home invasion. From the perspective of the killer, we see the man encounter each of the women in flashback and photos as their murder scenes play out. Told without dialogue, this story was shot by a group of friends over a series of four weekends in North Carolina. Told as a murder mystery, the film held onto a twist ending based on the original short film The Very Last Time, which had footage included in this cut of Scelerophobia, which represents the phobia of a "bad man" or burglar. Originally entitled 13, the title was changed to reflect the fear of the number 13 until the filmmakers finally settled on the title Scelerophobia.
