This movie is first and foremost a love story. The central question is about what divides us ; A young man kneels at a high school football game, which his girlfriend deems an inopportune time. Using imagery in a visceral way this movie hopes to address the reasons society has created the conversation surrounding the controversy an American Football player took when kneeling at an NFL football game . The title Bend is about listening rather than fighting to be heard.
