A dark-comedy with an emotional kung-fu grip, Master Yoshi's Terrible Day is a story that explores themes of identity, self-worth and purpose within the competitive, rank-driven landscape of martial arts. Master Yoshi Miyamoto, a delusional "chi-energy master", issues an open challenge at his dojo and subsequently suffers a humiliating defeat in front of his students. Seemingly left with nothing, the humbled sensei reluctantly sets down a grim path to self discovery. Inspired by true events, the film draws influence from a viral video of a real-life "chi-energy master" who was beaten down in front of his students by a MMA fighter in 2006.
