When invited to her niece's wedding, aging author Jennifer Boyd is challenged to return to her long-abandoned hometown and confront both the subjects and toughest critics of her novel her family. Living in the shadows of her one hit success, Jennifer has been unable to find inspiration since the novel incited a rift that, until now, has gone unaddressed. Years since abandoning Pallarenda for the short-lived but glamorous life of a successful author, Jennifer arrives at the home where she grew up. Reconciliation does not come easy, particularly with her sister Kimberley. Lingering resentments fuel an uncomfortable rehearsal dinner, coming to a head when mum, the family matriarch, gives a drunken toast that lays everything out on the table, targeting the guests without discrimination. Shared victim hood brings understanding and solidarity to the feuding sisters and Jennifer, now able to move forward, can finally write again.
