Scars (2020)

SCARS is a short film born from a reddit.com writing prompt response by user u/wercwercwerc. It received over a million views, tens of thousands of upvotes, and was gilded ten times. In an alternate near-future universe where lying leaves physical scars, the world is very similar to our own, but slightly more advanced. On the surface, the story is about a young cadet learning that there are two sides to every story. However, the story's subtext goes much deeper. Discussing the true value of truth and honesty, and the role those values play in the way we interact with each other, SCARS forces the viewer to put themselves into this unfamiliar world and wonder where they would fit. It's more than a story with a twist - it's a statement on the importance we as a society place on our reputations and self-image.
