Welcome to Velvet's House Party, where every week your hostess, Velvet Hiney, dispenses party tips for the sophisticated social soiree set. Velvet, a refugee from an Alabama trailer park has now set up house in the suburbs and is anxious to share her Martha Stewart-like knowledge of party hostessing. Velvet's House Party, written by Stacey Bean, and featuring the comedic actor Brooks Braselman as Velvet, is based on the play, "Catfish, Guns and Corndogs: At Play in the Fields of the Trailer Park" featuring a two year, sold-out run in New York City and after a successful run in Los Angeles was considered as a television sitcom at the former WB Network. Velvet's House Party, written in 30-min episodes, features Velvet Hiney in her home, visited by a regular cast of characters: Hilda Fern, her slovenly maid; Ricky The Pizza Delivery Boy, a former juvenile hall teen trying to go straight; Mailman Ted, the hunkiest and most eligible mailman in town; and Bernice Finkelbaum, Velvet's nosy, Gladys Kravitz-like next door neighbor.
