TRUE BELIEVERS will tell the story of the blue jean generation and their struggles to meet deadlines, live their lives in the raw environment of New York City, and produce creative work that to this day stands as some of the high water marks of comics history. What drove these young men and women to an unwelcoming field, which, at the time, made no promises of a career or life security? Also, we can examine the nature of the creative spirit, and the spiritual joy that comes with the creative process. Writer, Producer, Director, STEVE MITCHELL, who was the guiding force behind the award winning, New York Times Critic's Pick, documentary: KING COHEN, is uniquely suited to tell this story. Simply put, Steve was a member of "The Blue Jean Generation." He worked for DC and MARVEL COMICS, and had a career on staff, and as a freelancer that spanned over four decades. Steve walked the halls, worked with other creators, exchanging ideas, sharing thoughts about the work, learning how to be a pro and sometimes sharing all-nighters with fellow artists to meet intractable deadlines. In a nut shell...Steve was there, and combined with his feel for journalism, storytelling and film making, he is that unique filmmaker who can tell his story from the inside out.
