Rosa Porto Beyond the Box (2020)

Porto's Bakery and Cafe is celebrated for its Latin inspired pastries, sandwiches and cakes. The local presence of this business is well known but Los Angelios are unaware of the story behind it's founder. Rosa Porto left her life in Cuba after facing the violence of the Communist revolution. Settling in Los Angeles she found solace in her family and their collective desire to produce high-quality baked goods. Despite limited space and financing Rosa pursued her passion and supported her family with her growing business. After decades of hard work Rosa reflects on the legacy she leaves to her children and grandchildren.
