Night Cab (2020)

Luo notices Bai and her girlfriend enter his taxi around midnight. After he drops Bai's girlfriend off her place, Bai stays in his car and asks Lou to take her to the hospital where her sick father suffers from terminal stage cancer. Bai and her father's relationship has been on the rocks since she came out to him. With the extent of his cancer, however, the doctor believes he might no longer make it through the night so Bai sets out to see him one last time. Luo does not appreciate how Bai talks about her father like she doesn't care at all. Moreover, uncomfortable with her sexual orientation, Luo engages in a long and heated argument with Bai. As both stand their grounds, Luo pulls over in front of a market to go to the bathroom while anxious Bai gets inside to find a lighter and go out for a smoke when she finds that a supermarket robbery was going on. The robber threatens the cashier with a knife and asks to empty the cash machine. Luo shows up just in time to find Bai attempting to tackle the robber and save her from danger. After the life-and-death situation, Luo opens up that his son is also a and that he had disowned him for it. A heated argument and a nerve-wracking robbery hence, two generations learned to understand each other despite their differences.
