Midnight Blues

Midnight Blues, an Indo-English language film is being made based on the inside story of the brothel children of Kalighat, Kolkata. A Documentary film maker from France visited the brothel just before Covid19 hit in India and destroyed the economy of Redlight Area across the country in early 2020. She reminiscences, she finds Kalighat to be one of the oldest Hindu pilgrimages where belief and brothel stay together for years. As the Sex Worker mothers received 'customers' in the tiny rooms to earn every day, the little children had no space to stay till midnight. They roam about the in the temple side roads and narrow alleys of Kalighat and so many unknown stories were born everyday there. It was a living document of a redlight area of India in pre-corona time. The entire shoot was done in Kalighat Redlight area. It is India's First ever participatory film claimed by National Magazine FRONTLINE as the sex workers and their children had joined in the production as technician and Line producer forming their own Line production house CAM ON. It is India's first ever Professional film Production house formed by the Sex Workers and their children formed through this film. They designed the production from script to make up, costume, locations, casting finalization, assisting in direction and production management.
