Tokyo Legacy (2020)

This special program will delve into the dynamic history of Tokyo from its devastated state in the aftermath of WWII to a stage of rapid development leading to the 1964 Summer Olympics and finally the global powerhouse on the road to the 2020 Summer Olympics. These great - and at times miraculous - changes as well as the sociopolitical maneuverings that Tokyo went through, will be explored from multiple angles including the social, cultural, political, technological and economic. Captivating interviews with historians, athletes, cultural figures among others, will be supported by powerful archival footage that captures the true legacy of Tokyo and the city's prospects as it moves toward Tokyo 2020 and beyond.
