Young Fernando will unintentionally bring St. Nicholas' eve in danger. He is given the important task of looking after St. Nicholas' golden key, but then he misses the boat. With his best friend Pony he trots as fast as he can overland to the Netherlands, but will he still be on time? A small disaster threatens, because without a key, St. Nicholas will not be able to bring presents to all the children who live in houses without a chimney.
