Arthur has wrestled with this question all his life, and has been taken captive by two lies: Deaf people are nothing more than patients to be cured, and the emptiness in his soul is the result of his own deafness. Seeking to cure his inner brokenness, he transforms himself into Dominik Bell, a wealthy, powerful alter-ego who has successfully engineered the 'cure for deafness,' including his own. Living between the hearing and Deaf worlds, Bell's potential for influence is limitless. But as the lies he has accepted consume him, his carefully crafted facade of wholeness begins to deteriorate. Left with nothing, Bell is faced with an ultimatum: surrender himself to the darkness, or be found whole in the light.
