The story of Pacifist German writer Erich Maria Remarque. Author of the book "All Quiet on the Western Front", that sold the most copies after the bible. A man who fought in WW1, who wrote about the horror of the war in the trenches and on the fields, of gas, comraderie and death and the stolen youth. This documentary is about him, his love for beautiful women, his love story with actress Marlene Dietrich and his love story with actress Paulette Goddard, later his wife.
