Grieving the loss of their young daughter, Christine, an uptight doctor and AIDS researcher, and Joe, a loyal anthropology professor, attempt to reconnect and find purpose again with a work placement in the Papua New Guinea highlands. As they get deeper into the forest the world of the Indigenous takes over and a world that seemed so foreign and primitive becomes a worlds that they are bound to for life.
