Under the direction of cult director Michail Levitin a group of Russian actors living in Germany rehearse Remarque's "The Night in Lisbon". As in Remarque's play where the protagonists' journey leads into an uncertain future, in the exile under the most difficult circumstances, the paths of the actors of this theatrical production, migrants themselfs, were similarly unpredictable. We follow them into their inner life, into their own past, into the strangeness of the new play, into the dependence on a seemingly autocratic director. The bounds between reality and fiction, between cultures and people, seem to disappear in the intensity of the theatrical work and to fit together in a new way. For one person the night is the end, for someone else it's the beginning.
