Emma, or 'E' has her friends call her, has lived in a small town in central Georgia her entire life. Her and her two best friends, Craig and Chase, have been by each other's side from the beginning. Growing up in a town like Molena, everyone knows each other, it takes 10 minutes to get from one county line to the other, the kids play outside alone and no one locks their doors. The classic small town life that has since become lost in time. It has been the same for Craig, Chase, and E. After 20 years of doing every aspect of life together, E has been offered an editor position in Dallas. It has been her dream to be a writer and all of her hard work has finally paid off. We follow E through her last day in Molena. Like any other "last" day, E's senses are enhanced. She smells things she has never noticed before, sees things she wishes she had paid more attention to, and loves like it was her last day on earth. Craig and Chase have finally come to realize that this day is real and are having a hard time accepting reality. They end their last night together like always, the Fourth of July party at Brett's house. In honor of going out with a bang, they decide to go to Hagan's Mountain. Many years ago Hagan's Mountain was the place where parent's took their kids to see the fireworks being shot off from the whole town. The guys leave the party to head up the mountain to spend E's last Fourth of July the way they spent so many in the beginning. Little did they know, E's last night in Molena was indeed just that.
