What would you do if you were denied the right to be part of the society you live in, denied the right to education and forced to labour in servitude? Kachru Maazha Bapa is the true story of Kachru (Garbage), born to the dalit caste in 1920s India and how he faced his destiny. Kachru's life over the period 1928-1985 mirrors social change in India as it gained independence from the British and Bheemrao Ambedkar fought for the equal rights of the long suppressed underclasses in Hindu society. Kachru is a simple man, endeavouring to find his dignity in a society that gave him none.
