Numb (2016)

'After being raped, I was wounded: My honour was not.' It is said that the soul leaves the body that very moment when the mind succumbs. That feeling of violation and intimidation when someone else takes control of your body and leaves you to be hurt in the most intimate way, is when you feel like you have lost your virtue and your self! Numb is one such Metaphoric drama woven around a young girl being sexually assaulted. The film progresses through two different spaces- one being the Real physical space; and the other, the Mental space of the protagonist where each second in Time is Extended to show the agony of the body and soul. Being inspired and influenced by Maya Angelou's writings, I carved this piece to voice the mental numbness and physical incapability of women's wounded souls; yet also saluting their courage and strength that helped them overcome it and rise again!
