Run Home (2015)

A visual adaptation of Alvin Lucier's 1969 audio piece 'I am Sitting in a Room,' Run Home finds the Betschart Bros. on a walk through their childhood neighborhood on Christmas eve. A single take on HD video spanning over 5 minutes, the video compresses every few seconds throughout the piece, exponentially degrading the image. This process happens by repetitiously re-uploading and re-downloading the footage from a video streaming website. The result is an erasure of the human performer and the dominance of the video codec.
