Benjamin Wright is a middle aged painter on the verge of success after spending the last 15 years involved in the New York art scene. After a showing of his gets glowing reviews, he is commissioned to be a part of a much bigger exhibition -- at The Met Museum of Art. No bigger launching pad for an artist in New York exists. There is one stipulation, they want all new works that have never been judged or exhibited. Ben hasn't created new work in almost a year -- he's been trying to hide from his manager the fact that he has been in a creative rut, but finally confesses now that he is on a serious deadline. On the suggestion of his manager, he returns to his small town in North Carolina in order to find inspiration. Ben, against his own better judgment, does so -- only to be confronted by the ghosts of his past which include an ex-wife and countless girls he had affairs with while married. His homecoming is less than warming and out of the turmoil surrounding his return, he must find it in himself to be creatively minded and create at least 10 new works.
