One follows three generations of Mexican American women who work in backbreaking roles amidst the vines of the Napa Valley wine industry. Twenty-two year old Grace Acevedo discovers her late mother's world through her diaries. As Grace learns about the injustices of her mother's past, she is inspired to follow in her mother's footsteps and attend Harvard University. Here, Grace unveils disturbing revelations about her biological father and sees gender inequities all around her. This shock inspires her to spearhead a study exposing the cause of gender inequalities in classrooms and sexual assaults on campus. Through this story of struggle and triumph, we see how systematic oppression of women can begin to be eradicated when we acknowledge biases ingrained in our society and become one.
