Some people have a bad day. John is having a bad life. So bad, that he decides to end it. But sometimes when you're down on your luck, you can't even get suicide right. John very reluctantly decides to live. Now if he can just survive his ex-drug addict brother Peter who has found spirituality, his highly strung control freak sister, his weird flatmate William and eternally positive gardener Unathi, he might just find a little peace and quiet. Or not.... Throw in a disastrous road trip and John's life is about to get a whole lot more complicated. After all is said and done, you might not be able to choose your family but you may just discover in a weird and wonderful way that there really is no place like home. In the vein of 'Little Miss Sunshine', 'Squid and the Whale' and other indie dramedy's, 'There's no place like home' is a poignant and witty look at dysfunctional families and one flawed individual's journey, as he takes a reluctant trip to wholeness.
