Laws of the Game (2017)

Zeola, a single mother whose life alternates between her job as a prison guard and her career as a football referee in the men's league, finally gets a chance to realize her dream of plying her trade at the international level. Set against the backdrop of the economic depression in Suriname, Zeola fights for her FIFA badge and a better life for her 5-year old daughter Efsen. In her attempt to obtain the badge in an official FIFA referee test, Zeola is confronted not only with her own insecurities, but also the unfairness of the world around her. As she begins to realize there might be other forces at play, she attempts to confront the Surinamese Football Association and ultimately fights for all she's worth.
