In the Munich Shooting in July 22nd 2016 nine people were murdered, mostly teenagers, all with an immigrant background. But the mass media talked incessantly about the killer. A small, hate-filled man became famous on television, radio, newspapers and the internet. Perhaps he got what he wanted but his victims were forgotten, their families left alone to cope with a gaping hole in their lives, a hole where their loved ones had once been. Six Munich teenagers spent eight months researching the crime and its victims. They spoke to families, friends, teachers, state and local police and emergency responders to find out the personal stories, to understand the agony of waiting for news of your loved ones and the horror of discovering that your child is amongst the dead. "Unvergessen" takes the viewer on a journey to discover the first and the last of the dead, Can and Dimo. The film shows us who they were, what made them special and what we have lost through their deaths. We hear from a father, a sister, a friend and a teacher, we share their pain and we begin to understand the unfathomable. "Unvergessen" is a unique film, made by teenagers about a crime that tried to tear apart the city of Munich. But failed.
