Lives: Visible (2018)

Lesbians in a box... over 2000 private snapshots discovered in a Chicago bungalow. Lives:Visible opens the box to reveal the rich history of working class butch/fem life in the pre-Stonewall era. Spanning four decades, from the 1930s through the 1960s, the snapshots provide a rare look at a vanished and vibrant Lesbian culture. Now we all take selfies. These women used a Brownie camera to tell their story. Lovers and friends they played, posed, worked, partied, drank, and aged. Lives:Visible explores the ephemeral nature of culture and the power of the images we leave behind.
