Small Gestures (1995)

A portrait of the filmmaker and artist Derek Jarman as he plays the musical saw, toys with a human skull, shadows and light. Filmed on Super 8 at Jarman's Phoenix House flat in 1985, the material was transferred to 16mm. Small Gestures was made as a tribute to Jarman after his death in 1994 and premiered at the 1995 Berlin Film Festival where it received a Special Jury Mention, and was subsequently screened around the world.
