Disa's Diary: A Portrait of My Grandmother (2017)

Hjördís Kristjánsdóttir (Grandma Disa) was born in Northern Iceland in 1930. She was raised up on the farm Bjarnarstaðir in the rural valley of Bárðardalur, close to the highlands. At the age of 23 she moved to Reykjavik to study handcraft and teaching, a rather bold move for a country girl at the time. In the film we learn about her life now and then, about the diaries the has been writing for the past 57 years and how wars, major changes and losses have affected her life.
